Independence Day

 In commemoration of Mexican Independence, the principal heroes of the Revolution of 1810 are celebrated throughout Mexico in every pueblo of the land.  Beginning with "el grito" in the evening of the 15th, and followed up by a day of parades, celebrations and monumental fireworks.  An event equivalent to July 4th in the US.  For more see the Villa Victoria blog on Independence Day.

Cuanajo: September 8th, Nativity of the Virgin.  Town wide craft fair, mainly featuring their woodworking industry.

Patzcuaro: September 29th, Day of San Miguel Arcangel

Janitzio: September 30th, birthday of Morelos, one of the heroes of the Revolution of 1810.  Dances and festivities throughout the island.
